What is unique about Marisa?

I graduated with a First Honours in International Tourism Management in Aberdeen and during my time at uni I studied abroad for 4 months in Finland and did a year-long internship in Napa Valley, California. Some of the subjects I studied were Digital Media Platforms and Practices, Business Creativity, Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Adventure Tourism.
I don’t drive but I have still managed to travel to many beautiful remote locations by public transport in Europe and the US, including a 30-day solo trip around the US. I also wrote my first ebook about “How to travel Aberdeenshire by bus”
Travelling on a budget has become who I am as I get to see more by spending less. When I was younger I believed that only people with a lot of money could travel and take those insta-worthy photos. But after 5 years of travelling, from being a student working at Burger King and many other hospitality jobs to travelling around the US after my internship, I learned a lot about travelling on a budget and how it is possible for anyone to travel, even if they don’t have a lot of money.
The past few years I have been travelling solo and I love sharing with my audience about all the benefits of travelling alone. I also made a short documentary for my final year dissertation about “Solo tourism and the impacts on self-confidence”.
I am half Scottish half Greek, and have lived, worked and studied in both countries and have enjoyed the best of both worlds. I realise the importance of understanding other cultures in order to have successful business relations.
I have worked in tourism, including my family’s hotel and restaurant in Crete and a 5* resort in Napa valley, California, and have been a tourist, therefore I have experienced both sides of the industry and understand what it’s like to work in tourism AND be a tourist
